“He had the most distinctive laugh”
Hi there! You probably came here looking for a review of Amusement. If you scroll down to the bottom, you’ll find it. First I have some things to get off my chest.
First thing: You’ll likely notice that I haven’t been around this blog in some time. I didn’t go blind and deaf and stop watching movies. I didn’t suddenly become a circus performer (Cirque de so LAME, amirite?) And I didn’t fall in love and abandon you. The truth is, I have begun working toward having a whole new career. I am changing my life plans significantly. And while four of you might be interested in these new plans, the rest of you couldn’t give a shit, so I will leave it up to the four to investigate rather than go through the whole process here on what is ostensibly a movie blog.
In working toward this new career, I have sort of come to an understanding about the frivolity of what I do here. And it’s making it a bit less attractive. Simply put, when terrible things are happening (to me, to you, around me, around you) it’s difficult to justify taking the time to write about movies than it was before. That’s not to say there’s no value in it. There is immense value in it, but I have had my mind occupied by what seems (to me) to be much more necessary and important stuff.
What that means for me and this blog is that posting with be light. I will no longer come here once a week, and I will no longer feel guilty if I don’t come here. I’ll update from time to time–when something is too good (or too bad) to keep to myself.
At any rate, I hope you’ll still come to visit.
Second thing: I have recently been accused of plagiarism. This is the first time in my graduate-degree-earning life this has happened to me. I will firmly say that I have no conscious memory of plagiarizing anyone. After digging around I found the review I am claimed to have plagiarized, and I can absolutely see why I was accused of such. And I desperately hope that the writer of said review will forgive me. I have since deleted my review (which is why you’ve come here looking for something that isn’t here). It is very possible that her review was in my head while I was writing mine, and I am terribly sorry
Having said that, I believe there is a protocol to dealing with people–even on the internet. If you have a serious concern about their content, you do not leave that concern impotently floating in the comments section. You send them a fucking email. It is very easy to locate me in the sidebar of this blog. I have provided various ways to do so. There is no excuse for posting shit like that in a comment instead of contacting the individual directly.
I have no idea if the person who accused me of such is actually the writer of the original review. If they are, I am actually rather surprised that this is the method of discussion they chose. Or perhaps they thought there was no discussion to be had. I don’t know. However, I feel handing out an accusation in such a manner is cowardly.
As I have said above, I am terribly sorry for any content similar to another writer’s, and I have deleted it. There is no need at this point to tar and feather me. Sometimes, people have very similar ideas, and when one has read (long ago) someone’s comments on a film, it is often very difficult to differentiate one’s thoughts from another’s. Maybe that proves that I am crazy, or maybe it proves that I’m an asshole. I don’t honestly know. But the writer of the original review needn’t worry much because I won’t be around here all that often.
To the commenter, next time (even though there clearly won’t be one), man up and try to have a conversation with me. It does no one a service to be passive aggressive in comments. I’d much rather you be outwardly aggressive to my (cyber)face.
That is all I have to say in this matter.
Amusement review: It did not suck, which is more than I can say for most films. Meh, watch it if’n you’re bored.

Did you draw “inspiration” for this review from any other horror blogger’s website perhaps? There are some striking similarities…
^^ See above.
